1Scan

MacPurge maps your disk. Scanning only reads; it never moves or changes a file.

2Review

Green stripes mark what rebuilds by itself: caches and old build folders. Your photos, documents, models and downloads are never ticked for you.

3Clean

What you choose goes to the Trash, not into the void. Changed your mind? Put it back from MacPurge.

4Space, back

When you're sure, empty just what MacPurge moved. The rest of your Trash stays exactly as it was.

Made for how you use your Mac.

Everyday mode keeps it simple. Developer mode adds the build folders, caches and containers that quietly eat your disk.

Sizes are examples. Yours depend on what's on your Mac.

Built so it can't break your Mac.

The worst thing a cleaner can do is delete something you needed. Most of MacPurge's code exists to make sure that never happens.

Sealed. Never offered, never touched.

Questions, answered straight.

Is it safe to use on my Mac?

That's what it's built around. Scanning only reads. Cleaning moves things to the Trash, so you can put them back, and every item is checked again right before it moves. Your keys, passwords, messages and mail are sealed and never offered for removal.

Why does it use the Trash instead of deleting?

So a mistake is never permanent. When you're sure, MacPurge can empty just the items it moved, and it leaves everything else in your Trash alone. A few tools, such as Homebrew and Docker, remove their own items for good; MacPurge tells you before that happens.

Will it make my Mac faster?

If your disk is nearly full, freeing space helps, because macOS needs room to work. MacPurge won't claim to speed up your Mac with memory tricks. It does show what's using memory and what starts at login, so you can decide what to quit or switch off.

Why does it ask for Full Disk Access?

macOS hides some folders, such as app data and iPhone backups, from every app unless you allow it. Without Full Disk Access MacPurge still works, but it can't see everything. It uses the access to read and measure, and your files stay on your Mac.

Will I lose my settings or documents?

App caches don't hold your documents or settings, and apps rebuild them as needed. When you uninstall an app, its data is kept unless you tick it. Downloads, large files and duplicates are never ticked for you.

I'm a developer. Will it break my projects?

Build folders of projects you've touched in the last month aren't ticked, and neither are folders committed to git. Caches of an IDE that's open are left alone. Everything it removes is something your tools rebuild on the next build or install.

Does it work on Intel Macs?

Not yet. MacPurge is for Macs with Apple silicon on macOS 13 Ventura or later.

Does it send anything to the internet?

No analytics and no account. The only requests it makes are the ones you ask for, such as the optional AI assistant with your own key, and it shows you exactly what would be sent before the first one.

Get your space back. Keep everything that matters.

Free during the beta. A scan takes a few minutes and changes nothing until you say so.
